Day 19: Balloon payment? July 23, 2013 at 6:47 PM

Today we saw two hot air balloons, one of them just a few short blocks from the house.  What a neat sight!

This balloon was very close and very low.

You can see both balloons in this shot – click the picture above to see them.

Janele checks out the stoop.  You can see John’s shadow to her left.  LOL

Day 16: Adore the floor pour July 20, 2013 at 8:33 PM

The basement floor has now been poured and cut.  This has transformed the downstairs from a dig site to a basement in my mind.  I love it!

The floor is in and it looks great!

Janele inspects the progress.  She is in front of what will be the Scrungeon window.

Day 11: Grovelling for gravel July 15, 2013 at 9:24 PM

A minor update today.  The basement floor has been leveled and graveled in preparation for pouring the concrete floor.  The water access is also roughed in.

The floor is ready for cement.

An updated view of the front of the house.

Day 8: Captain – there be walls here! July 12, 2013 at 5:10 PM

To misquote Scotty in Star Trek IV: “Captain – there be walls here!”  Today they removed the forms, leaving the concrete walls fully exposed.  They also sprayed the outside to help prevent cracks and leaks.

Much of the house is layout is now in full view.  The garage is clearly visible.  Most of the storm shelter is formed – everything except the roof.  And BJ’s bedroom window is visible all the way from Faulkner Avenue.

I always thought those brick foundations were made of brick!  Huh?!?

Day 7: Walls poured July 11, 2013 at 7:00 PM

Another big milestone today…  They completed the wall forms and then poured the concrete.  After waiting so long for things to start it seems that we are now moving at warp speed.  “Make it so!”

Things also got very real today on the job site with the appearance of the mandatory Port-O-Potty.  Now we are in business!  So to speak!  :-P

The walls have been poured!

The Port-O-Potty!
